The Hursts 2008 Summer Post 2 of 36

Day One of Prep

Spent the day today getting ready. Well kind of.

After driving into the office at 4:00 AM to retrieve my laptop (I really want to get those projects done), I picked up a coffee for Wendy and spent the morning working on some analysis that was not done.

Late morning, we took the kids to REI to pick out hiking shoes. Charlotte pushed to buy a campsite ice cream maker. We couldn't convince her that we would not have room, and it really wasn't necessary as most of the campgrounds we are staying at have ice cream shops. Yes, we will really be roughing it with our air conditioning, cable TV and high speed wireless. Needless to say, we had to just put our foot down and say no.

We then spent the early afternoon moving all the basement contents from the living room back to the basement. I would say we have the 1st floor back, but the dining room is filling with stuff that we are pulling out for the trip.

Jackson had his last soccer game late in the afternoon. The boys played great, but couldn't bring home the win. The team celebrated with the coach and parents with pizza after.

The evening was spent helping Charlotte pack for camp.

Wendy and I actually got an hour at the end of the day to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the first episode of Swingtown. This new show is supposed to take place in a North Shore community in the 70's. The music is good, but I doubt that all the parties and goings on depict what really happened in these sleepy communities.
